Announces the 2008 Recipients of the
Charles H. Dow Award
The Charles H. Dow award is granted annually by the MTA for excellence and creativity in
technical analysis.
The recipients of the 2008 Charles H. Dow Award are:
* Mr. William DeShurko, CFP®
* Professor Stanley G. Eakins,
* and Assistant Professor Samuel L. Tibbs,
for their paper entitled Using Style Index Momentum to Generate Alpha.
Professors Tibbs and Eakins teach finance at East Carolina University. Mr. William DeShurko,
CFP® is the President of 401 Advisor, LLC.
The strategy utilizes the Russell style indexes to take advantage of the significant momentum
these indexes have exhibited over certain look back periods. This style index momentum provides
a diversified, index-based, low cost strategy that has outperformed on both a raw and
risk-adjusted basis.
